Hampton Roads OB/GYN Center provides high-quality medical care for a woman throughout her lifetime. They have recently expanded to two locations in order to better serve the Hampton Roads area. In addition to offering pregnant women exceptional care, the center also offers comprehensive gynecological services for women including annual physicals, management of ongoing medical conditions, and wellness screenings.

Prenatal and Postnatal Care
From the moment of conception, you want the very best for your child. At Hampton Roads OB/GYN, we closely monitor your health and the health of your baby throughout your pregnancy. You can count on us to continue to provide outstanding medical care and support for the mother after the baby arrives.

Well-Woman Care
Our caring staff and physicians understand that your annual physical is more than a pap smear and breast exam. It is the time of year when you can discuss specific health concerns with your doctor. Whether you are concerned about family planning, nutrition, or hormone replacement, we offer comprehensive gynecological services.

Mangement of Ongoing Medical Conditions

Angela Parson, MD, of Hampton Roads OB/GYN takes you behind the scenes at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center to discuss women's health, the tests women should get regularly as they age, and unexpected body changes women suffer in silence.

Lenny Laureta-Bansil, DO

Lenny Laureta-Bansil, DO, completed her bachelor of science at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va., and received her medical degree from Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Va. She went on to complete her OB/GYN residency at State University of New York, Sisters of Charity Hospital, in Buffalo, N.Y.

Dr. Bansil is certified in laparoscopic surgery (FLS) and da Vinci robotic surgical system. She has participated in several research studies and is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Urogynecologic Society and American Osteopathic Association. Additionally, Dr. Bansil was a recipient of the 2012 AUGS Award for excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and the 2013 AAGL Special Resident in Minimally Invasive Gynecology award.

Janet Matthews, DO

Janet Matthews, DO, is a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Dr. Matthews has a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Tulsa, Okla. She completed an internship at the University of Oklahoma Department of Internal Medicine in Oklahoma City, Okla. and continued her training as a resident in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Missouri Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Columbia, Mo.

Dr. Matthews earned a Master of Arts degree in humanities from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, as well as a Master of Science in exercise physiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. In addition, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Ill.

Dr. Matthews is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She was previously employed by St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Okla. and was also author of a semi-weekly column, Women's Health Today, featured in the Muskogee Phoenix newspaper in Oklahoma.

Angela Parson, MD

Dr. Parson earned her doctorate of medicine from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. A Norfolk native, she completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. Her interests include adolescent care and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Parson is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the National Medical Association. She has won several awards and enjoys teaching and community service.

Emily J Thomson, DO

Emily Thomson, DO, completed her bachelor of science at the University of California, Los Angeles, and received her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Pomona, Calif. She went on to perform her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio. Her prior professional experience includes private group practice at a Canton, Ohio, women’s clinic. 

Dr. Thomson’s special interests include providing compassionate care for women during pregnancy as well as gynecologic care utilizing minimally invasive procedures with the da Vinci® robotic surgical system. Dr. Thomson has participated in several research studies and given numerous medical presentations. She is professionally affiliated with The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Medical Association and American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
