quality orthopaedic and spinal care

Virginia Orthopaedic & Spine Specialists (VOSS)

Virginia Orthopaedic & Spine Specialists (VOSS) is a medical group of physicians and surgeons committed to helping patients heal and live with as little pain as possible. We specialize in treating people of all ages with injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system and spine.

At VOSS, we use advanced diagnostics to manage the care of patients whose pain may be caused by a variety of factors that range from arthritis and tumors to major sports injuries and trauma.

Depending on the diagnosis, patients may receive care at one of our VOSS locations or through the Spine Center of Hampton Roads, which has two offices.

orthopaedics

Our specialists have pursued additional fellowships and training that enable them to offer a wide spectrum of treatment options. Our goal is always to help patients avoid surgery when possible. Sometimes, however, surgery is necessary to eliminate pain and prevent further muscle weakness or nerve damage. At VOSS, our surgical team works closely with patients to discuss treatment and recovery options. We use minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgical techniques when possible to reduce pain after surgery and speed up recovery.

The Spine Center of Hampton Roads

Patients who have neck and back conditions related to their spine may suffer debilitating pain that travels into their arms and legs. Simple tasks like getting dressed or sitting for long periods of time can be excruciatingly painful. It’s important to seek help early to avoid permanent nerve damage. Using X-ray, MRI, CT and bone scans, our spine specialists can pinpoint where the spine is affected.

In many cases, patients can recover with rest, pain management and physical therapy. The goal of conservative care is to restore patients to the highest level of functioning as quickly as possible. We often use exercise, body mechanics training, and therapeutic injections as alternatives to surgery. We coordinate patient care with Bon Secours In Motion Physical Therapy, which has several convenient locations throughout the South Hampton Roads region. An aquatic therapy treatment program designed specifically for spine treatment is also available.

If surgery becomes necessary, our orthopaedic spine specialists use the latest leading-edge techniques and state-of-the-art equipment. The ultimate goal of spinal surgical procedures is to help patients be able to resume their regular lifestyle activities in a safe and timely manner.
